Building mesmerising tracks from microscopic samples, German producer Jan Jelinek creates groundbreaking electronic music marked by its spine-tingling attention to detail. In the late '90s, his pioneering microhouse releases as Farben and Gramm were full of peculiar rhythms and woozy textures crafted from snippets of old jazz, dub and disco records, usually warped beyond recognition. While he's known for making digital glitches swing, Jelinek has also recorded everything from haunting ambient music to hypnotic, krautrock-inspired grooves, whether under his own name or one of his many aliases.
