Doves: Next Steps

Away from the euphoric bliss of their early ‘00s hits, Doves embark on a much grittier trip. The fuzzy paranoid funk of “Darker” and woozily kosmische churn of “The Outsiders” paint a late-night urban landscape riddled with danger. “M62 Song” is a lonely, folky wait by a busy road, and in “Firesuite”, they offer a cinematic musical response to their studio being burned down.
