Basement Tape Essentials

The aptly named Basement Tape may call Bangkok home, but with their shambolic fusion of power pop, twee and '60s-bred garage rock, the Thai quartet could easily hail from Manchester or Glasgow. Formed in 2008, the band are passionate Anglophiles who submerge their harmonies and wobbly guitar jangle in vintage reverb and lo-fi effects. Sometimes, Basement Tape crank up their amps and drop a punchy downbeat; other times, they sink into lush psychedelia. Either way, the results are ebullient hooks that will lodge deep in your memory.
