Part of the reason Avion Travel's sound is so tough to categorise is that it developed over a long period of time. The band formed in 1980; they've spent the years since perfecting an utterly individualistic style, putting pop, jazz, old-school balladry, rock and orchestral music into a blender. They assimilated their influences so thoroughly that some of the artists that inspired the band eventually wound up working with them, like troubadour Paolo Conte. Alternately moody, sprightly, intense and playful, the music of Avion Travel can take you plenty of places, if you're up for the trip.
