Joyce Cheng：Friends of Dorothy

Having served as a proud Pink Dot HK ambassador, Joyce has campaigned for LGBTQ+ rights in the streets and performed songs such as “Black Rainbow” in the hopes of spreading awareness and eventually eliminating discrimination. “Friend of Dorothy” is an old American euphemism for an LGBTQ+ person – a protective code phrase used for discussing sexual orientation at a time when homosexual acts were illegal in the US. Naming this playlist “Friends of Dorothy”, Joyce pays tribute to LGBTQ+ culture and history: “Celebrating Dorothy 2019. She’s a classy, sassy and bad-assy queen.”
