About AFI
Hardcore punk band AFI formed when its members were in high school and none of them knew how to play an instrument. ∙ When singer Davey Havok attended college, the band rehearsed in the basement of a fraternity house. ∙ AFI’s debut album, Answer That and Stay Fashionable, was produced by Tim Armstrong of Operation Ivy and Rancid. ∙ Havok was once approached about replacing Michale Graves as singer of The Misfits, but he declined. ∙ AFI’s sixth full-length release, Sing the Sorrow, went Platinum. ∙ The group’s album DECEMBERUNDERGROUND debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. ∙ The single “Miss Murder” won the 2006 MTV Video Music Award for Best Rock Video.
