Author and singer/songwriter Yves Simon emerged in 1973 with folk guitar hit “Les Gauloises bleues”. His touching, poetic lyrics are reminiscent of early Leonard Cohen, sung in a mellow, semi-spoken voice, over sombre strumming and delicately arranged instrumentals. He's refused to play live since 1977, but the albums kept coming, each increasingly experimental—as on the reggae-tinged Amazoniaque.
