Luis Bacalov Essentials

A Buenos Aires-born composer who settled in Rome in his twenties, Luis Bacalov channelled an eclectic background into his extensive output for the screen from the ‘60s onwards. Equally at home working with the highbrow—like directorial legend Federico Fellini—as well as the more earthy—like Spaghetti Western fiend Sergio Corbucci—he ultimately won an Oscar® in 1996 for Il Postino. Combing through four decades of releases, this list includes rousing and rhapsodic cult classics, complete with Franco De Gemini's legendary harmonica, enticing lounge jazz and bittersweet touches of the bandoneon.
