Tokyo-based MC Seeda inspires old school hip-hop flashbacks with joyful, block party beats and an endlessly rhythmic flow. Born Yoshida Naoto, Seeda came of age in the '90s and absorbed the maximalist, pop-leaning tendencies of superstars like Puff Daddy. As his profile rose in the early '00s, Seeda stayed true to his roots—hits like "Technic" sported ecstatic, soulful clap-along beats and catchy choruses, complete with requisite scratching. Later tracks like "Bussin" reached even further back to broach dark, early '90s hip-hop, stripping Seeda's sound down as it was returned to the streets.
