Robert Forster

Although commonly considered the darker, artier half of the creative force of the Go-Betweens, singer, songwriter, and guitarist Robert Forster has always exhibited a knack for crafty pop songs along with the brooding ballads he is most tassocaited with . His albums recorded as a solo artist, beginning with 1993's Calling from a Country Phone, drew from both sides of his musical nature. Once the Go-Betweens came to a halt, he continued releasing uniquely thoughtful and melodic solo albums that included 2008's Grant McLennan-haunted The Evangelist, 2015's rambling Songs to Play, 2023's emotionally raw The Candle and the Flame, and 2025's Strawberries, a lively set of songs recored in Sweden with a small band.
