In the early '80s, Scotland's Simple Minds were among the key instigators of post-punk's transformation into stadium rock. At their infancy, they resembled a more raucous Roxy Music, dressing up the post-glam archness of 1981's “Love Song” in a strobe-lit electro thrust. But 1982's dubwise delight “Glittering Prize” betrayed their latent pop aspirations, and once the “hey hey” hook of “Don't You Forget About Me” cued the credits of John Hughes' classic 1985 film The Breakfast Club, Simple Minds became a defining band of the decade.
