Art Tatum: Deep Cuts

Like any great jazz musician, Art Tatum's performances not only honored but elevated the standards he took up. Fortunately for us, his sophisticated taste in piano music had him dipping into the Gershwins' poppy, romantic “Nice Work If You Can Get It,” Edgar Sampson's warmly swingin' “Stompin' at the Savoy,” and predecessor Fats Waller's majestically florid “Honeysuckle Rose.”
