Techno may be the German label Kompakt's bread and butter, but take away the beats and there's plenty left to sink your teeth into. Kompakt's ambient fixations date back to the label's pre-history, and since 2001 their annual Pop Ambient compilations have showcased chilled cuts like Dettinger's loop studies, Thomas Fehlmann's drifting dub and GAS' classical-sampling drones.
