Tokyo trio WHITE JAM exemplify many of J-pop's best qualities—SHIROSE tackles the beaming, singalong pop choruses, GASHIMA cuts loose with rapid-fire hip-hop verses and NIKKI takes on both. The resulting songs are tight, streamlined dance-pop jams that take occasional detours into string-swept balladry and compelling, guitar-driven pop-punk. Although WHITE JAM often delve into new genres, they pack edgy vocals and nuanced piano into pounding, sunshine-bright tracks equally at home at the beach or in the club.
