You can almost see the lightning leaping from Yamandu Costa's fingers when he's executing one of his superhuman rapid-fire runs across the fretboard. But this master of the Brazilian seven-string guitar is no show-off; he's a real-deal virtuoso who's just as likely to offer up a poignantly lyrical phrase to tear your heart out as he is to rip out a fleet-fingered lick to spin your head around. And even though Costa is steeped in the traditions of the great Brazilian guitarists, his fingers find a sound that's like nobody else's.
