

Formed in the early ‘80s, Tokyo's Princess Princess went on to redefine rock ‘n' roll swagger for mainstream Japanese listeners. The quintet created stomping rock numbers powered by electric guitar solos and big shout-along choruses, all given an electronic edge courtesy of a well-placed keyboard. Princess Princess made some of the bounciest and catchiest rock of the decade, but were just as adept at emotive, piano-backed ballads tailor-made for the throes of heartbreak.
