The original line-up of Tex-Mex supergroup Texas Tornados featured Lone Star State legends Doug Sahm, Freddy Fender, Flaco Jimenez and Augie Meyers. Their sound is a splashy, soulful mixture of country, rock, Tejano, conjunto and other regional Mexican styles. They were cult heroes from the start, but the band also received big-time praise, winning the 1990 GRAMMY® for Best Mexican-American Performance. Sahm passed away in 1999 and Freddy Fender followed in 2006. After a long hiatus, the surviving members reunited in 2010, fronted by Nunie Rubio and Doug's son Shawn Sahm.
