ALT CTRL is home to the latest and greatest in alternative music. Here, it’s as much an attitude as a sound—music that keeps things a little left of centre and rough around the edges. This week, thanks to Yellowcard, we’re looking towards “Better Days”, a single which was not only produced by blink-182’s Travis Barker but features him on drums. “‘Better Days’ is a step forward for us,” lead vocalist and guitarist Ryan Key tells Apple Music. “It’s a song about the future, and leaving negative energy behind where it belongs.” It’s a fitting, forward-looking sentiment that speaks to more than the song: “Better Days” is the title track of their 11th studio album, out in October, their first since 2016.
