Since the mid-’90s, Maqsood Mahmood Ali aka Lucky Ali has offered both a sense of introspective calm and wide-eyed wonderment. From celebrating the thrill of a new romance to weathering heartbreak and emerging from it a wiser person, the singer-songwriter has utilised several perspectives across a raft of albums. With his mesmeric voice, he has recorded groovy and folksy pop as well as occasional excursions into reggae (“Aks”), working with composers like Mikey McCleary to carve out a path that has ventured well beyond the Indipop movement.
