About The Brilliance
An eclectic CCM/worship music duo who combine indie pop, folk, and classical elements, the Brilliance represents the work of musicians John Arndt and David Gungor (brother of Gungor mastermind Michael Gungor). Following a series of independent releases, the group signed with Integrity Music and found chart success with a pair of well-received full-lengths including 2017's All Is Not Lost. Veering into protest music, the band later celebrated undocumented DREAMers with the lush, conceptual Suite No.1: Oh Dreamer. The two friends grew up together in Marshfield, Wisconsin and later reconnected musically in 2010 when Gungor was living in Oklahoma and Arndt was in Texas. They made their long-distance creative partnership work, releasing their eponymous debut as the Brilliance shortly after forming. A pair of EPs followed, which helped the group ink a deal with Integrity Music. They released their official full-length debut, Brother, through the label in 2015, which garnered critical acclaim, peaking at number 36 on the Billboard Christian Albums chart. All Is Not Lost, the duo's much-anticipated sophomore Integrity release, arrived in 2017, this time reaching number 20 on the Christian chart and breaking into the Heatseekers chart as well. In 2018, the Brilliance turned their creative attention to politics -- specifically DACA and the plight of the undocumented DREAMers facing deportation in the U.S. The result of their efforts was the conceptual, semi-classical Suite No.1: Oh Dreamer which was released in November of that year. The single "Holding On" appeared in early 2019. ~ James Christopher Monger
