About G-Spark
Hailing from Bhadgaon in Maharashtra, producer G-Spark (aka Gaurav Rathod) has brought a folk-meets-modern pop and hip-hop aesthetic to Marathi music, helping elevate it to global heights. Working primarily alongside his brother, singer-songwriter Sanju Rathod, G-Spark’s first single—2019’s “Bappa Wala Gana 2”—was a devotional track dedicated to Lord Ganesh. In the following years he mined rhythms from his community’s folk music and combined them with contemporary production techniques, aiming for chart-friendly impact. The breakthrough arrived with songs such as “Nauvari” and “Bullet Wali”, and most notably the 2024 viral smash “Gulabi Sadi”. Initially envisioned as a tribute to the hills, the latter track was inspired by the dance-floor energy of Indian hip-hop, particularly the work of DIVINE (“Mirchi” and others). The Rathod brothers have since continued their streak with songs like “Shaky” and “Sundari”, blending regional heritage with global pop influences.
