A cult favourite, Maneesh Sharma’s film about wedding planners is made unforgettable thanks to a folk-influenced Punjabi soundtrack composed by Salim-Sulaiman. Band Baaja Baaraat kicks off with the addictive, high-energy trill of “Ainvayi Ainvayi”, sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Salim Merchant, before “Tarkeebein” links folk and rock influences in an undeniable guitar riff with vocals from Benny Dayal. “Baari Barsi”, a by-now essential wedding track, features a dazzling folk-Punjabi hook (also heard on “Ari, Ari” by Bombay Rockers) to bring the festivities full circle.
