This 1980 action thriller was directed by Ramesh Sippy, and R. D. Burman’s compositions, along with Anand Bakshi’s lyrics, earned Shaan a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Music. The film’s opening credits are backed by “Doston Se Pyar Kiya”, featuring James-Bond-inspired string and brass riffs and Usha Uthup’s jazzy vocals. Other highlights include the catchy, upbeat “Janu Meri Jaan”, and the disco-influenced “Pyar Karne Wale”, sung by Asha Bhosle. By contrast, “Yamma Yamma” is a Middle Eastern-style cabaret number, with powerful vocals from Mohammed Rafi.
