Lolita stormed onto the scene in the ‘90s as one half of the hugely popular disco pop duo Academy. She went solo in 2000 with her debut album, Flowers—a superb mix of classic pop, folk and rock with electronic influences. Lolita's smooth and powerful voice complements various musical styles, including Russian chanson and Eurodance, and she's kept a keen eye on contemporary pop, incorporating hard house and contemporary R&B into her varied repertoire. More recent work has heralded a new era of sexual liberation: her 2008 LP, Fetish, played with poetic and raunchy elements.
