Negative Approach Essentials

Negative Approach Essentials

Though these raging hardcore champs only recorded one studio album, their worldwide legend continued to grow long after their 1985 split. The Detroit band formed in '81, influenced by U.K. punks like Discharge and stomping Motor City bands like The Stooges. The larynx-shredding vocals of in-your-face frontman John Brannon perfectly suited the band's knuckle-jacking aggression, minimalist songs and outward pessimism. After breaking up Brannon formed the great Laughing Hyenas and, later, Easy Action. Negative Approach regrouped in the mid '00s, aggressive as ever, and continue to play shows.
