The JUNO Award-winning Blue Rodeo member wrote and recorded much of his fifth solo album during the pandemic, spending time at his family retreat developing the material while Blue Rodeo recorded and promoted 2021’s Many a Mile. The title track pairs a gently driving beat with a smooth and sturdy vocal from Cuddy, whose harmonies especially shine as the chorus swells. Other highlights include “Everyday Angels”, a retro, soulful ballad about navigating life’s ups and downs while appreciating the little things, and closer “Say Goodbye”, a dusky and aching tale of long-term heartbreak. The record comes on the heels of Cuddy’s announcement as a member of the 2024 class of the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame.
