Wu Bai has been called the “King of Live Music”—and with backing band China Blue, the combination only reinforces that reputation. Filled with primal rock energy from the start, Wu Bai—born Wu Chun-lin—began his career in the late ’80s with a fateful job at a music shop. Not long afterwards, he joined forces with other members of China Blue to craft a style influenced by ’70s artists like Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. No one seems to be quite sure where his stage name (meaning “five hundred”) came from but despite the mystery, he’s definitely worth exploring.
