A leading light of the UK hard rock scene, Surrey five-piece You Me At Six emerged in the late ‘00s as a Brit answer to the second wave of emo-laced US pop-punk. Thanks to the clear-voiced croon and killer harmonies of frontman Josh Franceschi, the band are as adept at soaring mid-tempo ballads (“No One Does It Better”) as they are venomous hard rock anthems (“Kiss And Tell”, “If I Were In Your Shoes”) and melody-drenched pop gems (“Reckless”). Whatever their chosen emotion, hooks are often the appealing counterpoint to their heavy heart.
