In the late '00s, this young French guitarist debuted with a skill set that stretched across several traditions: He can bring a folky feel to the transcription of pieces by Spanish composer Isaac Albéniz, and a finger-snapping amount of classic American swing to his performance of Ellington and Strayhorn's “Take the ‘A' Train”. Cauvin's melodic sensitivity and graceful fingerwork is evident in his soft, lilting performances of classics by Scarlatti and Domeniconi and in newer, upbeat jazz pieces by Serbian-American composer Dusan Bogdanovic.
