Despite their brief recording career in the '70s, The Bothy Band worked wonders for traditional Irish music and played a major role in its resurgence. The pairing of Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill's swift clavinet and Paddy Glackin's fierce violin caught on quickly with traditional music fans. Occasionally bursting into Gaelic, the band celebrated the full splendour of great Irish myths. Riveting instrumentals, carried aloft by mesmerising flute and uilleann pipes, continue to appeal to those within and without Ireland, as well as prog rock fans.
