Joel Quartermain: The Producers

Joel Quartermain: The Producers

As a founding member and long-time multi-instrumentalist of Perth alt-rock trio Eskimo Joe, Joel Quartermain brings serious chops to his growing work as a producer and songwriter for hire. After his band made their name in the early 2000s with emotionally intense songs boasting widescreen arrangements, Quartermain has applied his intuitive approach to such acclaimed Australian voices as Meg Mac, Jack River and Ash Grunwald. Now an ARIA-winning producer, he has proven himself equally comfortable stoking self-aware dance parties (Client Liaison’s “Club Called Heaven”) and bringing out the subtle nuances in personal accounts of both racism (Dan Sultan’s “Story”) and depression (merci, mercy’s “F****d Myself Up”). Whatever style or scale is called for, you can trust that Quartermain will bring out the best in his collaborators.
