Born Daniel Bevilacqua to Italian parents in 1945, the stage-named Christophe has evolved into a soft rock cult phenomenon over his long, strange career. After a series of '60s hits that began with "Aline", the eccentric performer temporarily quit music to join a circus. He returned with a series of records that veered from a French take on hard rock to an engaging hybrid of prog rock and pop featuring his beloved synthesisers, above which his angelic voice floats high.
