About The Vagaband

An inventive and soulful Victorian folk-pop outfit from Norwich, England, the Vagaband offer up a colorful amalgam of Americana, English, and Irish folk, blues, jazz, ragtime, pop, rock, and country. Founded in 2010 by singer/songwriters Jose McGill and Gregory Cook, the eight-piece ensemble, which also includes Patrick Arbuthnot (pedal steel), Joe Wright (fiddle/mandolin), Tristan Roche (bass), Daniel Reynolds (bass), Ali Houiellebecq (sax/clarinet/flute/whistle), and Hugh Stanners (flügelhorn/trumpet/squeezebox), the group began as a street band before taking their spirited live show to the bar, stage, and festival scene. They released their debut album, Town & Country, independently via their own Eggsongs label in 2012. The band's sophomore long-player, Medicine for the Soul, followed in 2014. ~ James Christopher Monger
