About The Marian Consort
Taking its name from the Virgin Mary, the Marian Consort has brought a fresh, accessible approach to the repertoire of a varied and often fairly obscure nature, mostly from the Renaissance era but as far forward as newly commissioned works by composers such as Dani Howard and Gabriel Jackson. The Marian Consort has been heard regularly on the BBC 3 radio network. The group's 2014 album, Christmas with the Shepherds, was named a Christmas Choice by the BBC. In 2021, the Marian Consort issued Adriatic Voyage: Seventeenth-century Music from Venice to Dalmatia with the Illyria Consort. That year, the Marian Consort premiered Howard's Unbound at the Three Choirs Festival. The group returned in 2023 with A Winged Woman, a collection of contemporary choral works.
