Shawn Lane

About Shawn Lane

An unearthly mosaic of bop, blues, classical, and southern rock, Shawn Lane's ferocious guitar attack sounded beyond the bounds of one player. Precociously talented, by his teenage years Lane was touring nationally with Black Oak Arkansas; also prematurely burnt out, Lane quit the band by 18 to live a quiet life devoted to classical music. It didn't take, and by the late-80s, Lane was back in the studio recording with Alex Chilton, San and Dave, Ringo Starr, and outlaw country supergroup the Highwaymen. Lane released two praised solo records in the 1990s before lung cancer claimed his life in 2003.
