Ofege

About Ofege

The members of the Nigerian band Ofege were still in high school when they released their debut album, TRY AND LOVE, in 1973. Its mix of fuzz-guitar-filled psychedelic rock, soul, and African flavors made them local heroes, though the album wouldn't become a cult classic in the U.S. until well after Ofege had broken up. They recorded a few more albums in the '70s, with increasingly more polished studio sweetening, but TRY AND LOVE remains their definitive statement.
