About Lyn Fletcher
Violinist Lyn Fletcher was widely heard on recordings and in performance as the leader of Manchester's Hallé Orchestra. She often played concertos and premiered several major British works for violin and orchestra. Fletcher performed with various London groups and made her recording debut on a 1990 album with the London Chamber Orchestra of serenades by Tchaikovsky, Suk, and Dvořák. After playing as a member of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, Philharmonia Orchestra, and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Fletcher was named leader of the Hallé Orchestra in Manchester in 1997. She remained in that position until 2019. Fletcher was heard on more than 40 recordings with the orchestra under conductor Mark Elder, including one of works by Vaughan Williams that was released in 2022. She retired in 2019 but remains active as a teacher, coach, and performer.
