Los Evangelistas

About Los Evangelistas

The untimely death of flamenco revolutionary Enrique Morente in 2010 predictably opened the floodgates for all kinds of releases and tributes. Los Evangelistas is perhaps the most unpredictable and intriguing: an indie rock supergroup formed by los Planetas' Jota, Florent, and Eric, and Lagartija Nick's singer Antonio Arias, whose band had famously participated in Morente's groundbreaking Omega (1996). Los Evangelistas' Homenaje a Enrique Morente, released in 2012, dazed critics with its unexpected and yet utterly fascinating fusion of flamenco and avant-garde rock. The outfit announced a second album for the end of the year, once again featuring Morente's daughter Soleá as a guest vocalist. ~ Mariano Prunes
