About Denzil

Denzil have been compared to XTC and Squeeze. They earned more praise initially in the USA than in the UK, and signed to Giant Records who released the band’s debut album there in 1994. The group went on to play over 100 gigs in the USA, supporting the Posies, Grant Lee Buffalo and American Music Club. The album was eventually released in the UK through BMG Records, where an audience quickly formed for Denzil Thomas’ storytelling and unusual song construction. In 1995 he added a rhythm section of Jeremy Stacy (drums, ex-Tori Amos; World Party) and Martin Burden (bass) in an attempt to bolster the band’s live sound. They joined core members Thomas (vocals, guitar) and Craig Boyd (guitar).
