Absent in Body

International sludge/post-metal supergroup Absent in Body features members of Neurosis, Sepultura, and Amenra. Their terrifying, crushing sound combines plodding, doom-laden tempos, thick walls of muddy guitar tone, hoarsely roared vocals, industrial soundscapes, spacey interludes, and a reverberant production job that makes the whole thing sound as though it were recorded in a vast cavern deep beneath the earth. Absent in Body was formed in 2017 by Neurosis' Scott Kelly, Amenra's Mathieu Vandekerckhove and Colin H. van Eeckhout, and Igor Cavalera (ex-Sepultura). They initially recorded a single 20-minute-long eponymous song that was issued by Hypertension Records as the EP The Abyss Stares Back, Vol. 5. Their debut full-length album, Plague God, was released in 2022 by Relapse Records.
