Mexican-American troubadour Adriel Favela plays his guitar with a grit that recalls norteño’s folk roots, but he sings his unflinching corridos with the seductive pull of a Latin-pop crooner. For his fifth album, the Sonora artist adds an unexpected colour to his musical palette: roaring banda horns. The elegant-but-explosive brass only heightens the drama on Favela’s tales of romantic woe like “Para Que Me Quejo”, while guests like Enigma Norteño spur him to bring even more soul-baring excitement to rustic standouts like “El Samo”.
