Despite never having gained mainstream recognition, Sumo was hugely influential on the underground music scene in Argentina. Their frontman, Italian guitarist and singer Luca Prodan, seamlessly mixed English and Spanish lyrics with Sumo's own take on the post-punk wave of the ‘80s. Influenced by bands like Joy Division and The Fall as well as British reggae and ska, Sumo created their own unique sound with this visionary fusion. The group disbanded shortly after Prodan's untimely death—but this vibrant view of their repertoire shows why their music lives on.
