Stimela has been a fixture in South African music since the early '80s. A group of consummate musicians led by the enigmatic Ray Phiri, Stimela combines traditional African music with touches of jazz, soul and rock. They may have started out as instrumentalists, but their brand of Afro-fusion, joining with a parade of top vocalists, led to a string of acclaimed releases including "Whispers in the Deep" and their career-defining The Unfinished Story album.
