Robert Hood Essentials
Apple Music
One of the key figures in the second wave of Detroit techno, producer Robert Hood began banging out brutalist techno anthems in the early '90s as a co-founder of Underground Resistance. As a solo artist, Hood reduced techno to a clean-lined grid of throbbing rhythms on epochal releases like 1994's Minimal Nation. His radically stark approach to groove had a massive impact on the development of minimal techno, but Hood has expanded on his stripped-down template over the years, weaving melody and atmosphere into the mix without sacrificing his trademark dance floor drive.
