Ravi Shankar: Next Steps

The sitarist/composer Ravi Shankar consistently extended the parameters of what Indian classical music could be. His friendship with George Harrison led to the enchanting Indipop song "I Am Missing You", and "West Eats Meat" is a fetching jazz-raga fusion. Shankar often ended concerts with non-raga numbers like "Hollywood Dhun", a luminous improvisation on a Bengali folk tune.
