Best of Okeh Records: Jazz

Founded in 1916, Okeh Records was one of the first record labels to tap into the emerging African American market. Label star Mamie Smith helped usher the company toward success early on, and soon, jazz and blues greats like Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and W.C. Handy were releasing songs through Okeh.
