Born and bred in São Paulo, MC GW inherited the city’s love of funk and reggaeton, as a teenager developing into a chief exponent of the vivacious and comically sexual ‘spicy funk’ scene of the ’10s. On “Ritmo Mexicano”, GW utilises snare breakbeats and a needling guitar line for a zesty reggaeton sound, and “Leitada” deploys synthesiser riddims around GW’s husky drawl for a club-primed anthem. “Ela Quer Pente” offers agitated claps but is GW’s rapping showcase, a relentless onslaught of vocal tics and barbed one-liners that anticipates the wildest night out.
