Los Angeles-via-Indiana musician lil aaron is a man of many moods. His 2016 breakthrough EP, Gloing Pain$, mashed together elements from his beloved pop-punk—namely, clashing electric guitars and hollering gang vocals—with trap beats and aggressive production. However, lil aaron’s subsequent work has leaned into melancholy indie pop and sinewy throwback R&B, in no small part thanks to his penchant for collaborating. He’s also created pulsating synth-pop with Kim Petras, teamed up with blackbear for hip-hop with laidback swagger and periodically released tunes with his self-proclaimed “emo boy band” Boyfriendz.
