Pop trio Grasshopper is Hong Kong's original boy band. Spotted by the Madonna of Asia, Cantopop diva Anita Mui, Grasshopper cut their teeth as her back-up vocals/dancers in the mid-'80s, before finding their own sound in 1988 with debut album Grasshopper. Light-hearted and up-tempo, their music bounces with unadulterated joy, accentuated by their agile dance moves. Grasshopper's energy and playfulness contrasts with the maudlin ballads of heartbreaks prevalent in Cantopop––a strong reason for their enduring appeal.
