Best of '80s Indie Pop, Vol. 1
Apple Music
In the '80s, indie pop really was indie, since much of it started as DIY recordings on small labels. Glasgow's Postcard label gave us the giddy pop of Orange Juice and Josef K; Los Angeles's Slash took a chance on scrappy acoustic rockers The Violent Femmes. And London's Rough Trade signed non-commercial bands like Young Marble Giants and The Smiths, changing the sound of pop.
